CALH Lectures and Events for Autumn 2010 and Spring 2011
The new lecture season is almost upon us and in 2011 we have the excitement of celebrating our Diamond Jubilee year, during which we hope to bring you some additional exciting events.
Our first lecture of the season on 2nd October is by Derek Harris of the Half Cut Theatre
Up the Cut:
An amusing and informative history of the Canals of England & Wales, illustrated with songs. Covering around two and a half centuries and over three thousand miles of canal, this presentation is a whistle stop tour starting at the beginning of the modern canal age with James Brindley and the Bridgwater Canal, through the growth of commercial carrying, to its decline and neglect, finishing with its rebirth in leisure cruising. Added to this is a dozen or so songs with some audience participation.
Please note: as the vicar of St John's, Blinco Grove is getting married on the 2nd of October, therefore our meeting on this day STARTS AT 3PM
Unless otherwise stated all Lecture meetings are held on Saturdays at 2.15pm. Meetings are held at St. John's Hall, Blinco Grove, off Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 2RN for those of you with Satellite Navigation.
