We also have our own individual membership and hold regular monthly meetings. Our monthly lectures start at 2.15pm and last for about an hour; they are normally held at the St John’s Hall, Blinco Grove, off Hills Road, Cambridge, except for the joint meetings with other Societies. There is free parking, but it is always advisable to come early. There is also the opportunity for questions and discussion, and while enjoying a cup of tea after the lecture, there is the chance to find out what is happening in the Local and Social History world in Cambridgeshire.
Entry to these meetings is free for individual and family members, it is just £1 for affiliated and associate society members, and £2.50 for guests and non-members, and everyone is always extremely welcome. The CALH also organises a wide range of summer excursions and local walks.
Membership is open to anyone interested in any aspect of Local or Social History. The annual subscription is just £10 for affiliated membership for Local Societies or Groups, £8 for Individual Membership and still only £10 for Family Membership.

The Trust was founded in 1983 to provide financial assistance to the parish churches of Cambridgeshire when they undertake repair projects affecting the fabric, fixtures, furniture, and ornaments of their historic churches and chapels. The Cambridgeshire Records Society was founded in 1972 by the Cambridge Antiquarian Society. Its purpose is to publish editions of original documents from the middle ages to the present relating to Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area in order to make them accessible to Cambridgeshire people interested in their local and family history, and to historians worldwide. The Society aims to publish a volume a year. Members receive a free copy of every work published during their period of membership. Membership is open to all interested individuals, libraries, schools and other institutions at an annual subscription of £14. In addition to their free volume, members can purchase volumes at a member’s price, usually two thirds of the retail price.

Caxton Historical Society
Caxton Historical Society is a small group from Caxton, Bourn and neighbouring villages, with varied interests: antiquarian, archaeological and historical, family history, rural life and pursuits, buildings, etc.

Chesterton Local History Group
Chesterton was home to the company W. G. Pye which developed radio in the 1920 and produced wireless sets, and then black-and-white televisions – all that is gone. The group aims to promote an interest in local history by talks and in the collection of photos and the recording of memories. The group is using CCAN to further this aim. Enquire about the village walk which includes photos of past scenes.

The Friends group was formed to care for and promote interest in this historic Cambridge non-conformist Cemetery. Designed by J C Loudon and opened in 1843 it is the best existing example of his Cemetery design. It is now grade II* listed.
Volunteers work regularly in the Cemetery and members receive three Newsletters per year reporting on progress and containing articles about notable individuals and families buried there. Annual Subscription £5

Girton Village History Group

There have been several groups in the Village which have collected archive materials, and in 1999 the Girton History Group inherited much of the results. The Group was established to produce a Millennium publication for the Village, and identified a collection of letters written during the Second World War as a coherent and manageable project. Since then it has worked on a second volume of wartime memories. Membership of the Group is open to anyone interested in Girton's history. So far the Group has concentrated exclusively on its two publications and meetings have focused on production, which has limited active membership to those interested in the war years, but anyone with a historical interest is invited to contact the Secretary for more details.

The Longstanton & District Heritage Society (LDHS) was launched at an Inaugural Meeting held at Longstanton Village Institute on 11th May, 2007. Madingley History Group
The History Group was formed in 2000 and during the course of the Millennium Year achieved the following: publication of a Village Map to record village life through the preceding century, a series of lectures on subjects of interest to the Group, the creation of a Parish Archive & an exhibition of photographs and archive materials. Meetings take place in Madingley Village Hall, on average, about every two months. In addition, events are organised, such as the Annual Beating the Bounds and the Village Harvest Supper.
