Cambridgeshire Local History Awards
In addition to the Cambridgeshire Young Persons History Awards (CYPHA) The Cambridgeshire Association for Local History has two
other regular Annual Awards: - 'Services to Local History' and the 'Local History Book Awards' and in 2010 the introduction of a new award, the Cambridgeshire Community Archives Network (CCAN) Award
* Services to Local History
Launched in 2006, these awards are for people who have made a significant contribution to the study and accumulation of knowledge of the history of Cambridgeshire over the years. They all in their own way have moved our knowledge of Cambridgeshire on over many years. Many have been an inspiration to us all and often have been our mentors.
The CALH would welcome nominations for consideration from our sister archaeology, local, family and social history groups in Cambridgeshire for people who have been very important to your area of Cambridgeshire.
Nominations to the Association Secretary by March 1st each year please.
Winners in 2010
David Allard has done so much for his own society, the Royston & District Local History Society, for this he was awarded one of our 'Services to Local History Award' in 2009, however, until now had not been able to pick up his award. Finally, he received it from his good friend, Tom Doig at Toft

* Local History Book Awards
for Cambridgeshire
Each year several hundred new Local History Books are deposited at the Cambridgeshire Collection. In January, the following year the Association begins the short listing process. Each of the executive committee has a selection of books that it avidly reads over a two month period. Then at the beginning of March in a day long session, the final selection of between 8 to 10 books is reached by mutual agreement. All these selected books and their authors receive a certificate at our Awards ceremony in May. (See the bottom of this page for more details on how it all began).
Please Note: We judge books deposited at the Cambridgeshire Collection, if you are a local author, please ensure a copy of your valuable book is deposited and that the whole of Cambridgeshire can share in all your hard work and research.

Past Cambridgeshire Local History Awards
In 2001, the then Cambridgeshire Local History Society celebrated its Golden Anniversary, and it was felt that some recognition of published work relating to Cambridgeshire, consisting of original research by local authors, would be a fitting tribute. The Cambridgeshire Local History Awards are the result and are awarded annually by the Association.
